To become a recognized ethical leader with morale in the state of Odisha and beyond, offering high-quality educational programmes in computer science and its applications.

Mission of the Department
  • To offer a high-quality education in the art and science of computing, as well as to prepare students for career opportunities in this area requiring a high level of technical knowledge and skill.
  • To develop and administer programs which serve the needs of industrial computer scientists, researchers and computer application specialists for whom the discipline of computing sciences provides indispensable tools.
Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)
  • To impart wholesome education with emphasis on theoretical as well as practical aspects so as to produce Computer science and application graduates with innovative thinking, knowledge and skills to excel in postgraduate studies or to succeed in technical profession.
  • To provide the students with a sound foundation in the core subjects of mathematics, computer science and their application areas to make them competent to solve complicated computer science and application problems and also to pursue higher studies and research.
  • To train the students through a curriculum with good scientific and application breadth to enable them to develop analytical skills, multidisciplinary approach and the aptitude for novel designs.
  • To inculcate in students professional attitude, effective communication skills, teamwork skills, leadership qualities and an aptitude to create novel products and solutions for the real life problems.
  • To instill in the students the essence of professional ethics, moral values and social concern and a quest for lifelong learning needed for a successful professional career.
Course Outcomes (COs)

CO1: Characterized and design software for various real world applications.

CO2: Analyze various software problems using various application tools and programs.

CO3: Solve databases and network problems. Identify and formulate problems, develop and apply analytical and experimental methods of investigation, identify contributing factors and generate, validate and evaluate alternative solutions.

CO4: Design algorithms for solving real world applications.

CO5: Communicate effectively in a professional environment through technical reports and presentations. Ability to present fluently and justify technical solutions to diverse audiences.

CO6: Recognize and evaluate the societal benefits of computer applications. Recognize the importance of professional and ethical responsibilities, the evolving nature of computer applications and the importance of lifelong learning.

Programme Outcomes (POs)

PO1: An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, the sciences and engineering principles to problems in computer applications.

PO2: An ability to understand and apply fundamental scientific and engineering principles to engineering problems in the context of the interrelationships between structure, properties, processing, and performance of all classes of computer systems.

PO3: An ability to design, conduct, analyse, and interpret results of laboratory experiments that involve the behavior of software engineering applications, including the use of statistical and computational methods.

PO4: Familiarity and experience with modern techniques, instrumentation and other tools require for experimental and engineering design, data collection, and data analysis in the practice of computer science and engineering.

PO5: An ability to work in and provide leadership for diverse teams in the solution of engineering problems.

PO6: An ability to identify, formulate and solve engineering problems which involve application and selection of softwares.

PO7: An understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities and their implications.

PO8:An ability to communicate effectively through written reports and oral presentations,including preparation of professional quality visual aids.

PO9: The broad education necessary to understand the impact of computer engineering problems and solutions in a global/societal context.

Computing Facilities

Computational Laboratory

Computational laboratory is equipped with IBM-Netfinity 5000(under UNIX) with 30 user support. A number of Pentium PCs are connected to the server as nodes.

Networking Laboratory

The networking lab runs with the support of a pentium server (under Windows NT from Siemens Nixdrof. The clients are Pentium-PCs (under Windows-98) connected to TCP/IP using Ethernet.
With Netsim 2.0. NetSim 5.0(R&D)version

Micro Processor Laboratory

This laboratory is well equiped with 8085 and 8086 micro processor kits and other interfacing cards.

HP Scanjet 5100 scanner, External CD writer (HP), Modem 33.6 KBPS, HP 695c, HP Desjet-500 printer, HP Laserjet 6L Leaser printer, Panasonic KX P2624 DMP, FUJITSU DL 2000 Printer, NEC Printer, Wipro LQ-1050 Printer.

Internet

Internent facility is provided to the institute through, NKN with 100 mbps project and EDUSAT 10 bbps lease line from BSNL

Research Activity

The research interests of the faculty members include Fractal Database, Fractals and Computer Graphics, Evolutionary Neural Networks and Forecasting, Artificial Intelligence and information Retrieval, Fuzzy Optimization, MIS Data modeling and database design. Some of the faculty members have completed their Ph. D. work in this deptt.

Project Training & Placement

As part of the requirement of their course, System development Projects of six months duration by MCA & B.Tech students are carried out in external organisation. Our alumni have been recruited by a large cross-section of computer industries both in Private and Govt. Sectors. Many companies like Infosys, L&T Information Technology Limited, BFL software and TCS have recruited our students through campus selection.
