About

Production Engineering is a specialization of Mechanical Engineering, pertaining to manufacturing technology and management science. It has unfolded to become the hub of the global revolutions, commencing global transformations over and over again. Advanced Production Technology is still in its emerging stages and is anticipated to bring in substantial growth and efficiency in production processes.

SCOPE of Production Engineering

With the emergence of Production Engineering as an independent discipline, its importance was realized and in 2014, Under-Graduate course in Production Engineering was introduced with the following objectives:

  • Foster academic brilliance.
  • Introduce a set of skills, competences and attitudes based on market and scientific knowledge.
  • Supplement students and faculty with sufficient research capabilities.
  • Acquaint students and faculty with advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Expose students to actual practices through training in industries.

Work opportunities are available in public and private sector manufacturing organizations engaged in implementation, development and management of new production processes, information and control systems, and computer controlled inspection, assembly and handling. Due to its diversity, job opportunities lie in both core manufacturing and IT sectors.

Mission

  • To offer high-quality education and in turn produce highly-skilled Production Engineers familiar with traditional and non-traditional manufacturing as well as Advanced Production Technologies.
  • To offer scope for research and produce Research-oriented Engineers capable of aiding the area with research and development.
  • To indulge students in group-learning and projects and encourage teamwork.
  • To make students conversant with tools and machines through practical classes in laboratories.
  • To familiarize students with working experience and conditions through industrial trainings.
  • To encourage students and faculty towards research-oriented learning.
